On 4th February 2019, an Ethiopian delegation visited Upper Austria. The delegation consisted of higher officials, including the State Minister of Ethiopia for Urban Development and Construction, representatives of the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction  and the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission, as well as mayors of seven involved cities, indicating the importance of this matter.

The main and mutual goal of the participants is to reduce annual emission, create job opportunities and improve the quality of life for citizens by promoting better solid waste management and a more efficient use of urban green infrastructure. To reach these goals a potential twining program has been initiated. The visit in Upper Austria consisted of a broad program involving presentations, discussions and a guided tour through the faculty of University of Applied Sciences, Campus Wels, as well as a visit of Compost Systems in Wels, where the participants could gain insights about Upper Austria`s waste management processes and discuss the most important steps for further cooperation.
